I am a writer, educator, independent scholar and artist whose work explores the transformable matters and unprecedented mutations of bodies and worlds today.
My scholarly work brings together feminist philosophy, science and technology studies, psychoanalysis, literature and visual culture to contemplate the contemporary conditions of embodied existence — how we are being re-shaped by pervasive biotechnologies and ecological destruction.
I am particularly interested in how, in the process of being radically altered - at times, beyond recognition - strange and unsettling encounters with our own bio-materiality give rise to new practices of re-making ourselves, ones that are more resistant to the extractive and instrumentalising paradigms of biological life espoused by big tech, the medical industrial complex and neoliberal narratives of optimisation.
Alongside my academic and creative work, I have worked as a freelance writer and researcher, producing web and email content for organisations and providing research assistance across a range of projects. I have also spent time working on permaculture farms and wildlife conservation projects, experiences that have deepened my understanding of the relationships between bodies, environments and systems of care.
I currently teach at The City Literary Institute across the Culture, Literature and Film programmes. I also run my own independent courses and facilitate workshops. My teaching philosophy and practice are particularly informed by critical pedagogies, creative methods and collaboration.
Across these different forms of work, I am interested in bringing intellectual, creative and practical approaches into conversation to produce alternative ways of thinking and living in response to the ecological, technological and social transformations of the present.
As a multimedia artist, I create short films and visual works that respond to evolving “naturecultural” conditions with new methods of storytelling. I have collaborated with various collectives and arts organisations, including CUNTemporary, IMPRINT feminist documentary collective, and Quimera Rosa. My films have been screened at international festivals like Recontres Bandit Mages, SIREN London and 44.
